Last weekend, this & that...

Headed down to Cosfest on Sunday this time around, only for 1 day though since I wasn't free on Saturday this time round.

Thank goodness for yet another year of Cosfest with near perfect weather, it gets really squeezy inside the tent when there's wet weather so luckily this year had a pretty good weather. Didn't quite fancy the idea of rushing to Cosfest and later elsewhere on Sat although the idea of looking at the booths did quite tempt me for a little while... This's one of the things I quite like about Cosfest, one being that it's a free event and the other being the many booths that people can use to sell their own things, like self drawn portraits, handicrafts etc... AFA had those as well, but it's more of a different feel over here at Cosfest.

This year's sound system was rather bad, for the Karaoke competition, the off vocal music sounded quite muffled and wasn't clear as compared to the vocals from the singers... But this year's karaoke competition came with a unique twist that actually made it more interesting than just a normal singing competition. This year, there were 2 groups which will compete to win the best team and for them, there is a huge song list available where the members were all briefed before and it was from the audience that the song to be sung is chosen and each team would have to run for the hot seat to gain a opportunity to sing that song and win points. The first song that actually caught my eye on the list was Senbonzakura, I mean like, not many would be able to sing Hatsune Miku songs just as well, since it is actually quite difficult to hit some of the notes that Miku usually sings. Surprisingly when the song was picked, the singer actually delivered the song pretty well and it was really a job well done.

This year's Cosfest was more or less crowded with Shingeki cosplayers... It already became a hit to cosplay over the net when the series started airing, even Kyojins as well, so I wasn't that surprised after seeing such a number of cosplayers over at this year's Cosfest. What instead surprised me was the lack of cosplayers of the more recent series that I had thought I would see... such as Valvrave, Gargantia etc. Spotted a Yoshino cosplayer too, was quite surprised too since I wasn't expecting Date a Live cosplayers to be arriving so fast... The number of vocaloid cosplayers did became lesser this year but nonetheless, there were some prominent ones here and there :)

Didn't stick around for the Cosplay competition and the results for both the Karaoke and Cosplay competition since I was rushing for time to leave the venue at around 6... but nonetheless it was another milestone down for the year and I'm really looking forward to AFA this year round, especially when it made a comeback to Suntec City! For Cosfest, I do remember one year where the neighbouring tent was open for more booths to be set up, and that was a pretty good idea that I find a pity that it had not return for a couple of years now... Not only does it open up the event venue, it actually adds more variety of the goods that people would make and sell. Not forgetting more areas for the cosplayers to venture around too, rather than the usual tent, behind the tent and around it.

Another event down and next is AFA 2013! :D

got my hands on another wall scroll... looks amazing doesn't it? :P
